Mountain Roots Food Project

Healthy future americorps - as a rural intermediary, we place 24-30 young adults in service within 8 rural Food systems organizations across a 6- county region to gain career skills in education, agriculture, and Food security, and help expand the scale and reach of programs across rural Colorado.

Food security - addressing hunger and nutrition issues among marginalized and vulnerable populations through cooking education, five youth/senior/community gardens, and a Food relief box program that provides 65,000 + pounds of Food annually to people in need.

Regenerative agriculture - models and teaches regenerative agriculture techniques on two community farms (1.5 acres) to grow 15,000 pounds of Food for the community and train the next generation of beginning farmers.

All other accomplishments farm to school - provides year round environmental and nutrition education to 2,500 rural Mountain youth ages 4-18 through hands-on lessons during in-school, afterschool, and summer programs.
