Program areas at MT Hood Community College District Foundation

Awarded annually and by school term, scholarships are funded by donations from corporations, foundations, individuals and organizations as well as proceeds from the annual mhcc Foundation auction. Once funding is available, scholarships are advertised for student application. A mhcc financial aid representative and the mhccd Foundation scholarship and grants committee members review the applications and determine a recipient based upon the established scholarship criteria. Approximately $508,720 was awarded to approximately 171 students in the 2022-2023 fiscal year. These scholarship awards aid students in paying for tuition, fees, books, and support services.
Annually the College determines private funding priorities and presents a request to the mhccd Foundation finance committee for recommendation to the Foundation board for approval. Typically, the College president makes the request. In 2022-2023, the Foundation supported the College with payments or transfers from the board designated general fund for the following:description amountdental lab remodel for accreditation $160,000mechatronics balance for equipment purchases $ 93,700 staff awards $ 4,500 total $258,200
Program funds are specifically established for use in a particular division, department or program. These funds are used for program equipment, student conference fees, professional development for instructors, and projects and assistance to benefit students and employees. Donors may designate their gift to any existing program fund or can initiate a fund if circumstances warrant. Funding for program support typically comes from donor designations as well as grants from foundations or organizations. Approximately $159,980 was funded to the College program areas in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
