Program areas at Multimedia Resources and Training Institute
Yesler Young Media Makers MMRTI Summer Young Media Makers Program was supported by the City of Seattle. The project has created an environment where 54 students from age 11 to 16 learn how to 1) use various forms of technology, 2) work in teams, and 3) explore their expressive voice through photography, digital storytelling, and video in the form of documentary production. In this program cycle, interns have produced 4 short documentary films about community issues and programs that helping young people.
Summer Youth Media Program The Yesler Terrace Summer Youth Media program was supported by Seattle Housing Authority and Seattle University. The Project has provided 15 young people leadership skills, civic engagement, visual communication, mentorship, and teamwork to youth ages from 14 to 18. Participants of the program have learned video, photography, interviewing, image editing, documentary practices, research, and script writing. They have produced 3 documentary films about the community issues. The program's goal was to teach young people about their community issues and be a voice by for their community.
Digital Navigator, SHA and City of Seattle The Multimedia Resources and Training Institute (MMRTI) has helped 1200 low income residents at Yesler and Lake City with digital equity services to include digital navigator assistance, technical support, digital skills training for 150 adults andand help in awareness and enrollment in low-cost internet program benefits including the Affordable Connectivity Program, with a focus on older adults,and BIPOC residents and low-income residents. MMRTI has helped low-income people with no internet access to receive a free internet access through the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and $80,000.00 worth of computer was purchased for training purpose and over 100 laptops were given to those people who need computers most.
