Music in the Vineyards Annual Chamber Music Festival:2023 was the 29th anniversary season of Music in the Vineyards, a nationally acclaimed chamber music festival held each August in the Napa Valley. We present world-class international artists-in-residence performing new and classic chamber music in unique winery spaces. We work in cooperative partnerships with the Napa Vintner Community who generously donate their spaces and wine for the concerts. This combination allows artists and audiences alike to experience the intimacy of chamber music as it was intended to be performed. Our programming has recently been focused on inclusion and diversity, the 2021 festival featured works by little known black composers and 2022 focused on female composers. The 2023 festival featured 18 concerts with an attendance of approximately 2,500 tickets sold. 47.5% of patrons come from the Napa Valley and 29% from the Bay Area.
Echo in the Vineyards Music in the Vineyards Education and Community Program:As part of our mission, Music in the Vineyards is dedicated to enriching people's lives through the power of music, including providing music education and participatory experiences to people of all ages and walks of life. The pre-professional ensemble give interactive performances in retirement communities; all four Boys and Girls Clubs; workshops with Napa School of Music; plus, performances in public spaces. 2023 featured 15 performances with at attendance of approximately 450 seniors, children and students.MITVs 2023 community activities included two community performances with silent film, a new community concert; free open rehearsals; a solo instrumental competition for young players and a collaboration with the NVYS funding private instrument lessons. We also commission new works. 2023 featured a piano quintet by John Wineglass and 2025 will feature a new string quartet specifically written for the Fellowship Quartet by Clarice Assad.
