Program areas at Musicopia
General programming - Musicopia is a leader in revitalizing school music programs throughout the Delaware valley. Annually, Musicopia's professional ensembles and solo musicians present more than 4,823 programs that reach over 23,338 students and community members. Approximately 80% of Musicopia's efforts go to programs and services in low-resource schools and communities, where music education is most deficient. In addition to in-school programs, Musicopia has established long-term, out-of-school performing ensembles for students who lack opportunities for both performance and study.
Musicopia drumlines is an award-winning, after-school percussion program targeting students at risk for academic failure, with the overall goal of inspiring participants to develop musical skills, self-discipline, self- confidence, and an aspiration to push themselves to further accomplishments. The progroam serves 1812 students in 15 schools in grades k-12. Goals include building self-efficacy/discipline amongst students, providing teacher training opportunities for alumni, and preparing students to perform and/or study music education at a collegiate level.
