Program areas at Nami Joplin
NAMI Family-to-Family is an education class for families, partners, and friends of individuals with mental illness. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental illness, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family members. This program was designated as an evidence-based program by SAMHSA and is led by NAMI trained teachers.
NAMI Basics is an education class for parents and other family caregivers of children and adolescents who have either been diagnosed with a mental health condition or are experiencing symptoms but have not yet been diagnosed. This class is led by peer NAMI trained teachers.
NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a weekly free, peer-led support group for adults living with mental illness. Facilitators are peers who have completed NAMI training. This group allows peers to share experiences in a safe and confidential setting, build hope and relationships, and encourages empathy, productive discussion and a sense of community.
