Program areas at NAMI St Louis
NAMI St. Louis provided education, support, resources, training and assistance for individuals experiencing a mental health condition and their loved ones. In 2023, we provided family educational courses including 7 Family-to-Family classes serving 72 individuals. We also provided 238 support groups serving 565 individuals.
Educational and advocacy activities were provided to 1,944 community members in the form of monthly presentations. Information and resources were provided to 12,865 professional providers, law enforcement and general community members in the form of health fairs and social media. We also reached 5,068 individuals in the form of the newsletter. The NAMI St. Louis HelpLine served 1167 individuals providing resources. Additionally, there were educational activities supporting legislation to improve treatments and support for people with mental health conditions through our advocacy committee. The committee learns how to advocate for individuals living with mental health conditions and/or to join our voices to help create an improved public mental health system in our communities. The committee also sent out legislative alerts for participants to utilize the Fast Democracy system on our website.
NAMI St. Louis also provides public and professional education activities. Through our Ending the Silence (ETS) program 7,154 individuals received education related to youth mental health. Training was provided to 455 Police Officers and first responders in the form of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training.
