Program areas at Nashville Academy of Medicine and Davidson County Medical Society
Project access Nashville specialty care, in partnership with the Medical foundation of Nashville, provides a coordinated system of care to low-income, uninsured residents of middle Tennessee through collaboration with hospitals and safety net clinics in middle Tennessee. Through these partnerships, project access Nashville specialty care has established a referral process that links these patients to a network of community-based Medical clinics, physician specialists, collaborating hospitals and ancillary partners.
Continuing education - nam coordinates educational training and provides professional communications (newsletters, alerts and legal opinions) for physicians and healthcare professionals to promote the extension of Medical knowledge, the advancement of Medical science and the elevation of standards of Medical education.
The Academy, while not employing lobbyists, does act as a resource of information for its members. Individual members can volunteer to serve on the tma legislative committee or as a delegate to the tma or ama. These committees and delegative bodies at tma and ama monitor legislation and regulatory activites in Nashville and Washington to aid in the development of just laws pertaining to health and welfare. Academy members are invited to attend doctors' days organized by tma that included opportunities to meet individualy with state legislators to monitor the development of just laws pertaining to health and welfare. The Nashville Academy hosted one legislative reception to allow members to interact with Davidson County legislators to the Tennessee legislature in a group setting and to hear from the legislators and tma about pertinant laws coming up.
