Program areas at National Alliance for Public Charter Schools
Communications and Research: NAPCS has continued to deliver evidence based information and messages by proactively working with media, and by disseminating its issues briefs, which covers a wide range of issues critical to the sector. NAPCS also continues to collect a significant amount of data on the nation's charter schools. The public charter school dashboard is the most comprehensive source of national data on charter schools, and is consulted regularly by media, researchers, and policy makers.
National Charter Schools Conference: NAPCS convened the National Charter Schools conference in June 2023. More than 3,500 attendees from across the country gathered to learn and promote promising practices, celebrate our successes, and ignite the next level of innovation. The National Charter Schools conference is NAPCS' primary "Direct to Schools" channel and supports its ability to deepen the evidence base.
Federal and State Advocacy: NAPCS works for federal policies that support the growth and stability of high-performing charter schools by educating congressional members, staff and federal agencies about how policy can best support high-quality public charter school growth. In particular, NAPCS seeks to grow the base of support for public charter schools and NAPCS in Washington DC; maintain or increase federal funding where possible for public charter schools; and protect the autonomy of and ensure fair treatment of public charter schools within federal funding streams, federal regulations, and non-regulatory guidance.
