Program areas at NAACP
Field operations and membership services. Through field and membership,we build strategies and engage with communities across the nation. This includes recruitment, retention, and growth of our global membership, implementing initiatives and member benefits which enhance the member experience.
Economic development. Through policy advocacy, partnership, research, and mobilization, our inclusive economy work addresses economic inclusion and mobility; future of black work(ers); access to capital, assets, and investments; and pathways to business and entrepreneurship.
Civic engagement. Through policy advocacy, partnership, research, and mobilization, our civic engagement work amplifies community voices with a focus on issue-based campaigns and voting rights.
Convention-naacp. The Naacp hosts an annual convention as mandated by our constitution. We convene members, board and officers to share information and accomplishments and to establish policies and Programs for the coming year. Image awards. The Naacp works to ensure fair employment and positive images in the entertainment industry. The Naacp image awards spans multiple categories, celebrating outstanding achievements of people of color in the arts, television, music, literature, and film, and also honoring individuals and groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors. The next generation program (nextgen). The nextgen program supports young professionals through leadership and advocacy training to develop effective civil rights leadership skills, volunteerism, and membership in Naacp adult branches. Nextgen members complete various training, actions plans, projects in communities to learn how to implement civil rights and advocacy . Research and policy. Policy advocacy and research are embedded in all aspects of the naacps programmatic work. We assess policies impacting the experience of black people and all persons of color and educate and inform key constituencies. Similarly, our emphasis on research promotes actionable data, research, and engagement tools for communities. Education. Through policy advocacy, partnership, research, and mobilization, our education innovation work addresses accessible, high- quality education, college and career readiness; equitable systems and supports; pathways for opportunity youth; and technology advancement for the future of learning. Health. Through policy advocacy, partnership, research, and mobilization, our health and well-being work addresses equitable quality healthcare; equitable food systems; healthcare infrastructure; and healthy people, healthy communities. Climate justice. Through policy advocacy, partnership, research, and mobilization, our environmental and climate justice work addresses the right to toxic-free environments; energy democracy; sustainable communities, and zero emissions. Criminal justice. Through policy advocacy, partnership, research, and mobilization, our race and justice work addresses ending mass incarceration; reimagining public safety; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; and addressing racism.
