Program areas at NAB

Conventions: the nab show and nab show ny are annual conventions that showcase technological innovations as well as provide education and network opportunities to the broadcasting and production communities. The 2023 nab show attracted over 60,000 registered attendees and featured nearly 1,000 exhibitors. The 2023 nab show new york event attracted 9,500 registered attendees and nearly 300 exhibitors.
Innovation: created in 2012, pilot is a coalition of innovators, educators, and advocates dedicated to advancing broadcast technology and cultivating new media opportunities. Pilot propels broadcast technology into the future by providing a platform for innovation, an engine for incubation, a venue for testing new technologies and a forum for broadcaster education.nab published the first-party data direct-to-consumer accelerator report, which included all findings, learnings and suggestions for first-party data strategies based on the work and output of the nine participating Broadcasters. Nab continued the atsc 3.0 virtual interoperability event with 18 participating companies to develop and refine workflows for the new television standard, as well as the nextgen tv conformance program. Nab also continued and expanded the nextgen tv fellowship program with howard university to include the university of Missouri with expansion planned for 2024 to include university of Minnesota and clark atlanta university. This is an effort to educate a new generation of broadcast technologies and increase diversity in the industry.nab developed a prototype broadcast positioning system (bps) that can complement and augment gps signals. Nab demonstrated bps at protecting gps with resilient pnt solutions seminar organized with humber college. This event was attended by more than 70 high-profile pnt stakeholders from the us and canada.nab's innovation challenge featured companies with new solutions for: a cloud-native product that gathers and organizes media securely from any storage, providing a central point at which teams can gather, find assets and collaborate using any device, a single person to generate video quickly at low cost, ai driven, virtual broadcast video platform and customizable 3d news studios; an analytical social media management platform designed to make social media content more effective with the content creation process.
Advocacy: there are more than 17,000 full power local radio and television stations in the us serving their communities through public service, local news, entertainment programming and vital community information such as amber alerts, traffic information, and severe weather warnings. Nab advocates before congress, the federal communications commission (fcc) and in the courts.
