Community Health - naccho's community and environmental Health programs assist local Health departments to promote Health and prevent disease in communities. This is achieved by providing resources, tools, technical assistance and training. Programs include those in the areas of maternal, child, and adolescent Health, access to primary care and mental Health, injury prevention, traffic safety, food safety, climate change, birth defects prevention, disability and Health, chronic disease prevention, tobacco control, immunization, infectious disease prevention and control, and hiv and sexually transmitted infection (sti) prevention.
Public Health and infrastructure systems - naccho works collaboratively with key partners and local Health departments to assess and assure services to people and the conditions in which people live to protect and promote public Health for their communities. Naccho provides training, research, tools and technical assistance to improve local Health department capacity and effectiveness in areas such as informatics, community systems strategic planning, Health equity and social justice, native american Health, workforce development, international Health, and accreditation.
Preparedness - naccho collects and creates tools and resources for, and provides information, training, and technical assistance to, local Health departments. These activities enhance the readiness of local Health departments to respond to public Health emergencies and other disasters. Naccho also serves as a conduit through which local input can inform policy and practice on issues related to public Health preparedness at the National level.
