PUBLIC EDUCATION - NAAFA CONTINUES TO PRODUCE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES THAT ADDRESS ALL ASPECTS OF LIVING IN A FAT BODY IN OUR SOCIETY. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH A VARIETY OF BROCHURE AND INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS AVAILABLE THROUGH OUR WEBSITE (naafa.org), THROUGH LIVE WEBINARS AT NO COST TO ATTENDEES THAT ARE LATER MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH YOUTUBE. WE ALSO UTILIZE OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS TO EDUCATE AND MAKE KNOWN UPCOMING EVENTS. IN OUR ROLE AS SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS, WE ALSO CONDUCTED CONTRACTED PRESENTATIONS (BOTH LIVE AND ELECTRONICLY) PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION ON MATTERS OF DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND EQUITY FOR SCHOOLS, COMPANIES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS OR ASSOCIATIONS.
Civil rights advocacy - the campaign for size freedom established last fiscal year in conjuction with the Fat legal advocacy, rights and education project (flare) a project of the law office of brandie solovay continued this fiscal year. The campaign for size freedom promotes grass-roots advocacy for the civil rights of Fat people across the united states through education and awareness and focusing on Fat as intersectional and as a social justice issue. The campaign supports Fat community across the nation in a variety of ways including promotion through social media, educational programming and acting as a subject matter expert in the field of Fat rights. Naafa received specific requests To meet with various individuals as advisors in their activities To address Fat discrimination in their areas, coalition building and in understanding the law as it pertains To their rights as a marginalized group.
Community support - naafa supports Fat community in varies ways: online Fat social events, publication of a monthly email newsletter, blog postings in the Fat community voices blog, event sponsorships, collaboration with other Fat organization leaders, volunteer coordination and the production of Fat liberation month every august. All of these events are Fat centric and give the Fat community space To feel comfortable To be who they are with no judgment.
