Program areas at National Black MBA Association Pittsburgh Chapter
EDUCATION - The Organization provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students attending higher educational institutions. Scholarships are largely funded through corporate partnerships, direct sponsored stipends and tuition from Western Pennsylvania colleges and universities and a local scholarship matching program. A competitive application process is administered by a committee of volunteers to select the scholarship recipients. The awards are non-renewable with funds disbursed didrectly to the higher education institution in the name of the scholar.
LEADERS OF TOMORROW (LOT) - Program is geared toward mentoring students in the ninth through tht twelfth grade in a systematic way to build the competencies necessary for success through local chapter programming, the national conference, the Leaders of Tomorrow national business case competition, and the national leadership camp. Students are given opportunties to advance their skills to enable college preparation, professional and career development, foster leadership, management and presentation skills, provide networking, promote commnity engagement, develop analytical and critical thinking and participate in goal setting. This program served more than 20 young students in 2013.
BUSINESS & ECONCOMIC DEVELOPMENT - To support economic growth in the greater Pittsburgh area, the chapter has developed an innovative program funded by teh Heinz Endowments using a network to match the needs of recipients with service providers through a partial subsidy; 20% of the cost of the serivce provided is paid by the recipient and the remaionder is paid by the chapter.
All other program service expenses to disseminate information about the Organiation's goals and objectives and membership activities.
