Family literacy programs: ncfl's family literacy programs operate under the traditional, four component family literacy model and is federally defined. Family literacy includes adult education, children's education, parent education, and interactive parent-child activities. This place-based model is built on intensity and duration of services and is focused on both child and adult outcomes. Family leadership: ncfl defines family leadership as strategies and services that improve and enhance the leadership skills of parenting adults and that are designed to support Families in becoming better champions for themselves, their Families, and communities. Ncfl programs are underpinned by a research-based family service-learning framework intended to strengthen communities by fostering leadership skills. This six-step approach is meant to provide parent leaders with a guide for solving an existing community problem and to serve as a template for addressing future problems.family engagement: ncfl defines family engagement as the partnership between Families and practitioners aimed at providing children and Families with voice and agency throughout educational systems and within communities for the benefit of improving Learning outcomes. Ncfl offers three types of family engagement models to support student success across p-12 Learning environments. Ncfl supports family engagement through in and out-of-school-time experiences through a variety of resources including opportunities to learn in public and school libraries.collaborative community models: ncfl supports the creation, facilitation, and enhancement of collaborative community models in locations across the country to build aligned and coordinate family Learning systems that support multigenerational programs, birth through adulthood. These collaboratives serve as an anchor for the community to identify shared goals, language, and data. Community collaboratives unite a cross-sector group of community stakeholders that welcome and work alongside Families to build multigenerational systems of Learning that are streamlined, connected, and meet expressed family Learning needs and priorities.
