Program areas at National Civil Rights Museum

The National Civil Rights Museum (ncrm) continued to grow its visitors in fy2023 as it continued to recover from the effects of the covid-19 pandemic. Ncrm attendance numbers rose from 227,343 in fy2022 to 264,639 in fy2023 which was an increase of 16%. Relief erc credits received during the pandemic, along with continued support from corporate, Foundation and individual donors throughout fy23, helped to sustain the Museum and the Museum remained financially stable. The Museum offered virtual and in person programming including its tentpole events: king day celebration, april 4th commemoration, freedom award, the ruby bridges reading festival, juneteenth community day and other educational programs. The Museum also continued its catalyst for change programs and launched four, 2023-2024 National convenings:the reckoning, the resolve, the restoration and the resilience, a 4-part series aimed to unite thought leaders, policymakers, survivors' families and activists to examine the historical ties of police violence and identify solutions to address injustices that plague black and brown communities. The corporate equity center currently offers two programs:- the c-suite initiative combines the historical knowledge of the National Civil Rights Museum with the need for strategic and culturally relevant leadership that aims to eradicate racism in corporate america and increase the representation of black people in senior leadership and c-suite positions across industries.- unpacking racism for action is a thought-provoking series of educational programs offered by the National Civil Rights Museum to deepen the awareness and understanding of the many manifestations of racism by examining how racism, implicit bias, and the ideology of whiteness impact human relationships across society.
