Program areas at National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc-Oaklandbay Area Chapter
Providing and supporting programs that increase opportunities for african american Women and girls through outreach and community grants. Seventeen (17) scholarships were awarded to graduating high school and college students to assist with college tuition and room & board costs.
Public policy and advocacy & hiv awareness programs-include the "young scholars" scholarships that are awarded to high school seniors matriculating to college and college students. Our "working Women" scholarships are awarded to Women who have returned to college after taking time-off to work and/or raise a family. Our hiv/aids awareness program includes workshops and events to promote health awareness regarding the impact of hiv/aids on young Women. We provide information regarding resources for hiv/aids testing facilities and services, as well as general information about the current research, treatment options and impact of living with the disease.
Positive steps is a mentoring program for girls with a focus on personal growth and development, cultural enrichment and social development. Positive steps affords young ladies ages 12-17 an opportunity to further recognize their potential for success. We provide mentoring, financial education, health and wellness workshops, tutoring guidance and various other services as determined by the particular needs of the positive steppers.
