Program areas at National Committee on American Foreign Policy
The ncafp conducts regular conferences on u.s.-china relations with officials, former officials and experts from both sides and has institutional relationships with key chinese think tanks and scholars. Another aspect of these dialogues includes discussions on regional security in northeast asia focused on north korea. These frank discussions (track ii) between the us and china and among the us, china, japan, south korea and russia produce Policy recommendations to address strategic mistrust and build on u.s. Interests in a stable, prosperous and peaceful east asia.
The ncafp regularly brings together authoritative participants from taiwan, mainland china and the united states to discuss cross-taiwan strait relations in off-the-record (track ii) conversations. These discussions are a critical channel to address misperceptions and to explore peaceful diplomatic resolutions to cross-strait challenges.
Believing that an informed public is vital to a democratic society, the ncafp also offers public and private educational programs on a wide variety of Foreign Policy issues. The focus of this programming includes topics such afghanistan, europe (northern ireland, nato, eu, brexit, western balkans, russia) the middle east (iran, iraq, kurdistan), central asia (kazakhstan), cybersecurity and the quad (japan, australia, india, us). The ncafp also identifies, trains and promotes the next generation of Foreign Policy professionals through paid fellowships and projects of emerging leaders in programs that directly connect emerging leaders to the ncafp's network of senior scholars and diplomats so that each generation can learn from the other.
