Program areas at National Court Reporters Foundation
Special Projects:Projects which examine special issues in the field of court reporting and captioning. These projects help the Foundation's related professional membership association advance the professionalism and technology of court reporting and captioning.
Student and New Reporter/Captioner Initiatives:NCRF awards scholarships and grants annually to support the profession's future. Cash awards are given to students and new reporters and captioners who meet specific criteria and exemplify professional qualities of outstanding reporters and captioners.
Public Education:NCRF interacts with judicial and public groups and law schools to foster mutually beneficial exchange of ideas and to update and educate them on the benefits of court reporting and captioning technology, through the legal education for law students, attorneys and judges.In spring 2023, NCRF launched the monthly Ask Me Anything ZoomUp learning series as an interactive way to reach / teach the NCRA membership. Each AMA event featured panelists who are subject area experts. Registrants could enter questions when signing up for each ZoomUp or ask in Zoom chats. Coverage articles provided recaps to readers and a chance to watch each AMA.Our Oral Histories Project, done in conjunction with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, where we facilitate the transcription of veterans oral histories into electronic text to preserve history and to provide a searchable database.NCRF's student and new reporter/captioner initiatives program provides membership in the related professional membership association in return for transcribing oral histories, thereby providing students with the educational opportunities and benefits of membership.NCRF's CART services program supports the CART community by providing deaf and hard-of-hearing organizations with a grant for CART providers.NCRF's Career Launcher program provides education for students and new working reporters and captioners on professionalism, branding, and business development.
Resource Center:The Robert H. Clark Library is the central repository for books, reports, journals, and artifacts pertaining to all aspects of the court reporting and captioning industry.
