Eczema research we doNEAs research team seeks to understand the unique experiences of people with eczema. In 2023, we launched a survey to learn about the burden and unmet needs for types of eczema other than atopic dermatitis. It is our hope that this new data will lead to better care and support.Eczema Expo 2023 in Orlando, FL Eczema Expo is our annual conference and our favorite weekend of the year! We welcomed more than 350 community members to Expo in June 2023. They learned from world-class experts, physicians and researchers about the latest in eczema research and drug development. They also bonded over shared stories and created a community of support and connection. Survey results showed that 88% of attendees felt more connected to the eczema community. Were excited about Eczema Expo in Denver, CO, from June 2730, 2024.Seal of Acceptance adds two new categoriesNEAs Seal of Acceptance is an emblem that certifies that a product has undergone rigorous testing and scientific review where its ingredients and formulation data meet Seal standards for sensitivity, irritation and toxicity. People with eczema rely on the Seal to help inform their choice of personal care and household products. NEA recently added lip care and deodorant categories to better help our community live well with eczema.NEA Ambassadors take actionLast year, NEA Ambassadors participated in nearly 200 advocacy, research or awareness events. They shared their stories with staff at more than 100 legislative offices and asked for support of the Safe Step Act and the HELP Copays Act, which advocate for better access to eczema care. Their efforts resulted in six new cosponsors for these Acts.EczemaWiseEczemaWise is the free eczema tracker app to help manage eczema between doctor visits. For the second year, EczemaWise received multiple top prizes from the eHealthcare Leadership awards. EczemaWise received the Silver prize for Best Mobile App, Best Care/Disease Management and Best Email Content.Eczema Awareness Month 2023For Eczema Awareness Month, NEA featured stories from people with eczema on a billboard in the famous Times Square in New York City! These stories and more were featured in our #onethingabouteczema social media campaign. These posts and videos received nearly 5 million impressions and resulted in greater awareness of eczema.
Eczema research we fundLast year, NEA celebrated the 20th anniversary of our research program by awarding nearly $1 million in grants to eczema researchers. Their research will explore the many facets of eczema, including the science behind itch and inflammation, psychosocial burden and new pathways for potential therapies.
