Investigations - Nicb's investigative efforts produced 1,770 prosecutive administrative actions (paa) related to medical fraud, 2,151 in the commercial fraud segment, and 3,173 in the organized vehicle Crime segment.
Intelligence & analytics - published 773 medaware alerts, disseminated 323 suspect vehicle leads for investigation and potential recovery (63/20% reported as recovered).
Geospatial imagery - provided Insurance industry and first responders with geospatial support and analytics throughout 2023 catastrophic events. In 2023, Nicb provided location information to assist gic's collection of imagery for 10 tornados causing damage throughout the southern, midwest, and mid-atlantic regions of the united states. Nicb also provided direct support to emergency responders, law enforcement and the Insurance industry throughout 18 catastrophes. Overall, in 2023 Nicb responded to 18 catastrophes, resulting in the publication of 18 event alerts and 128 alerts on potential fraud.
Learning and development - the Nicb learning & development department provided numerous training offerings to member companies, law enforcement and key stakeholders. Training programs included virtual instructor-led fraudsmart training to 7,542 participants, specialized academies and conferences to 529 attendees and in-person training to 27,584 partners. In addition, over 82,175 individuals enrolled in the National Insurance Crime training academy (nicta) platform for on-demand elearning courses which covered a wide array of Insurance Crime and fraud topics.
Communications and strategy, policy & government affairs - Nicb engaged in legislative/regulatory efforts in conjunction with members, trade groups, and anti-fraud groups in various states on issues involving auto theft, catalytic converter theft, auto glass fraud, towing, counterfeit airbags, and data sharing. In addition, Nicb testified before the united states senate and provided policy recommendations regarding National vehicle Crime trends, tracked consumer data privacy bills in 35 states, directly lobbied in 24 states on these issues, and secured amendments in Virginia, Connecticut, new york, Ohio, Washington state, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Iowa. Worked with communications to generate proclamations issued by governors in fifteen states formally recognizing Nicb's contractor fraud awareness week. Nicb leveraged data, intelligence, and partnerships to create 19 public affairs campaigns aligned with topics relevant to members, law enforcement, and industry partners, including campaigns on vehicle and contractor fraud.
