Program areas at National Museum of Mathematics
Museum: momath operated a hands-on Museum focused on Mathematics and featuring dozens of interactive and engaging exhibits. The Museum fully re-opened to the public in july 2021, after a 15-month closure due to covid. The numbers of families, tourists, and school groups visiting increased over fiscal 2022 and continued to increase during fiscal 2023.
Traveling exhibition: math midway 2 go (mm2go.org) is a spin-off of momath's original traveling exhibition (the math midway). Designed by momath principals prior to the formation of the Museum, it served as a tangible proof of concept: it demonstrated that it was possible to build engaging exhibits that visitors would not only enjoy but would actively seek out, and which would illustrate a wide variety of mathematical ideas and principles.
Community: momath operates a number of public programs that serve the community by providing experiences that highlight the evolving, creative, and aesthetic nature of Mathematics. These programs also aim to show the many unexpected ways that math touches on the world around us and on our everyday lives. Community programs included several monthly presentation series, a suite of traveling/portable exhibits, and a variety of programs directed toward people of all ages and backgrounds, both in person and online.
