Program areas at NPN
Npn is committed to sharing its resources with its region, particularly smaller arts organizations and individual artists, through its southern programs. Direct support is available through a Network of participating projects, fiscal sponsorship, and three granting programs - southern artists for social change, the take notice fund and get ready.
The artist engagement program directly fosters community exchange by subsidizing residencies of performing and visual artists with npn partner organizations. Artists are paid to engage in community activities in a wide variety of venues such as cultural venues, schools, prisons, and community centers.
The creation & development program supports the creation, development and touring of new artistic projects around the u.s. The program allows relationships among diverse artists, presenters and community members to develop over time.
Npn's special initiatives includes a documentation and storytelling program for artists, professional development initiative for partner organization staff, and other direct services for artists.
Leveraging a Network for equity (lane) is an initiative designed to recognize and remediate the historical inequities in support for arts organizations of color and rural organizations. Participating organizations are engaged in a multi-year process that includes organizational development, financial capital, convenings, and intentional peer learning.
Npn's Network is nurtured by bringing presenters, artists and other stakeholders together at its annual conference and mid-year meetings. Opportunities are provided for building and strengthening long-term relationships, while simultaneously developing skills and competencies
