Encourages research on shellfish with an emphasis on those of economic importance. This is accomplished by disseminating scientific and technical information on shellfish through an annual conference, newsletters, and a peer-reviewed publication. In fiscal year 2022, the Association held their annual conference as part of the triennial meeting in san diego, ca - there was modest participation due to late effects of the covid-19 pandemic. The Association was able to publish and mail three issues 403 - 412 of the scientific journal and four issues of the National Shellfisheries Association quarterly newsletter.
