Patriotism is shown through support of the flag of the united states of america committee which funds the purchase of us flags that are distributed to families of fallen firefighters at the National fallen firefighters foundation's memorial serivce. the National awards committee provides medals of award for jrotc and rotc students and awards are presented to military academies for highest achievement. the golden acorns committee supports the fisher house by purchasing books and toys for children staying at fisher house while their family member is recovering from injuries. the veterans' services committee provides gifts and services to veterans' homes and hospitals as well as financial support to the wounded warriors project.
Education is stressed in the American indians scholarship which provides scholarships through the rain program at the university of north dakota and under the college of the ozarks scholarships which provide scholarships for students with a history major at this university. the children of the American Colonists receive funds in support of their young members' activities. the patriotic education committee provides bookmarks for schools. the immediate past National president of this organization's project supported the development of an outdoor learning pavilion named mistress margaret brent pavilion at historic st. mary's city museum, an archaeological and living history museum of Maryland's first colony and capital. the newly elected National president's project will be the funding of a spy adventure "app" for smartphones to be used by visitors.
Historical preservation of National headquarters is to maintain its period of authenticity. the property is in sheridan kalorama historic district. In 1989, this district which includes 610 historic buildings was listed in the d.c. Inventory of historic sites and on the National register of historic places. In addition, the National Society's genealogical records are being scanned to maintain the information available in the organization's historical records in good condition for research.
