Program areas at National Women's Law Center Action Fund
- In 2022, NWLCAF continued its public education and legislative advocacy work around judicial nominations, economic supports, reproductive rights, among other issues.- NWLCAF also set out to deepen its education program around the 2022 midterm elections. We created two state-based voter guides and one national voter guide for the purpose of educating the public about key issues and NWLCAF policy priorities.(To be continued in Schedule O.)- Provided regrants to partners in GA, MI, and NV who were working on voter education with local constituencies.- Through messaging, emails, and action alerts, mobilized public support to pass a clean debt ceiling bill without any cuts that increased poverty or took health care and food away from struggling families. The Care Can't Wait Coalition, of which NWLC is a member, forged deeper connections across disparate areas of our movement-including across paid leave, elder and aging care, and child care. This work to align the care workforce and the care movement brought a once-quiet conversation about care to center stage.- Our coalition continued its push for robust investments in the care sector-coming within one vote of including care in the Inflation Reduction Act and helping spur President Biden to sign over 50 executive actions which will help strengthen our care system.- Began collaborating on efforts to mobilize public support for an immediate investment of at least $16 billion in the child care sector to offset the child care funding cliff. - Mobilized public opposition against the so-called "Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act," a transphobic piece of legislation that does nothing to address actual gender inequities in school sports and would hurt ALL women and girls by inviting gender policing and sex stereotypes, without actually promoting gender equity in sports.- Encouraged our email and SMS lists to take action, either by contacting their representative directly or by sending a letter to the House speaker, so Congress heard loud and clear that we won't stand for this attempt to rob students of their right to learn in safety and dignity.
