Program areas at Native Alliance Against Violence
Ovw grants to tribal domestic Violence and sexual assault coalitions program-the naav is a tribal coalition dedicated to increasing awareness, enhancing the response to Violence, providing technical assistance and assisting tribes on domestic Violence, sexual assault, dating Violence, stalking and sex trafficking issues in indian country. The naav is available to all 38 tribes throughout the state of Oklahoma. Twenty-five of the tribal governments have programs that are dedicated to serving victims of crime. The naav is dedicated to increasing the awareness of domestic Violence, sexual assault, dating Violence, stalking and sex trafficking. In april 2019 the naav held the 5th annual gathering of voices in collaboration with the muscogee (creek) nation family Violence prevention program. The event was held at the green country vo-tech with over 90 people in attendance. The naav hosted the day of unity for domestic Violence awareness month. The event was held in collaboration with the absentee shawnee tribe in shawnee, Oklahoma. The event had over 90 people in attendance from the local community, tribal domestic and sexual Violence programs.
The naav enhances the response to Violence Against indian women at the tribal, federal, and state levels. The naav accomplished this by offering and developing 8 regional trainings throughout Oklahoma indian country on topics such as historical trauma, dv 101 and dv and the workplace. In addition, the naav held an annual summit and collaborated with various partners to create the partners for change conference on domestic Violence, sexual assault and stalking, and participated in various community outreach events throughout Oklahoma. The naav provides technical assistance to coalition membership and tribal communities to enhance access to services to victims of domestic and sexual Violence. During 2019 the naav delivered over 75 technical assistance requests received from tribal governments, state agencies, tribal and non-tribal law enforcement, tribal courts and tribal coalitions.
