Program areas at Natun Guatemala

At NatUn Guatemala, our mission is to uplift rural Indigenous communities, and we are thrilled to share the remarkable accomplishments of our three major programs: Education, Nutrition & Health, and Economic Development. Our dedication to creating positive change has yielded outcomes that we are incredibly proud of. Education has been at the heart of our efforts, and we are thrilled to witness the transformative power of our Seeds of Education Scholarship Program. Through conditional cash transfers, extracurricular workshops, and capacity building for teachers, we have become a beacon of hope for students of all ages, providing them with holistic support to reach their full potential. Our Preschool Nutrition Centers have been instrumental in kick starting social, linguistic, and emotional development for young Indigenous children, ensuring they are equipped for a bright academic future. Moreover, our Learning Communities Program has created safe spaces for students struggling at school, offering mentorship and Youth Leadership workshops to empower them academically and personally. Nutrition & Health is another pillar of our organization, and the impact we have made has been growing exponentially. Our Community Health program has worked to ensure that community members have access to vital healthcare services, clean water, and food security. Through our Women's Health Program, we have expanded healthcare coverage for women of childbearing age, reducing infant maternal mortality while respecting and preserving Indigenous knowledge. Our Growing Healthy program has had a huge impact on combating child malnutrition, as we provide holistic nutritional health and education services, instilling the importance of healthy habits from an early age. Economic Development is a crucial aspect of our mission, and we are proud to support rural Indigenous women artisans through our Artisan Program. By cultivating markets for their traditional beadwork and ancestral weaving, we have supported in increasing their income. Our Trade School and Vocational Workshops have equipped graduates with valuable skills, making them competitive in the local job market and contributing to the economic growth of their communities. Moreover, our Entrepreneurship Program has enabled participants to achieve economic independence through comprehensive training and technical support, facilitating forming savings groups, developing business plans, and helping them to succeed as entrepreneurs. The social impact of our programs is what we are most proud of. With the support of our donors and partners, in 2022 we supported 775 students through our Scholarship Program, provided a solid foundation for 151 students in our preschools, delivered 1,600 food support packages to families at risk of malnutrition, and helped more than 50 individuals launch 5 community enterprises using Nat?n microcredits, all reaching more than 15,000 people. Our success is a direct result of the unwavering support of our donors and partners, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have joined us in partnering with Maya communities to effect positive change. Together, we are creating a brighter future for rural Indigenous communities, and we invite others to join Nat?n Guatemala in making a lasting impact. Thank you for being a part of our transformative mission
