Research: The Charity sponsors original research into safety and workforce matters affecting the crane and related industries. Examples of research studies conducted include: identification of common safety hazards in the crane industry, exploratory workforce research to understand several topics of interest, including the demographic makeup of load-handling employees, the state of the current recruitment pipeline, and how load-handling employees view their jobs and certification, the potential for virtual reality in certification testing; and the impact of OSHA's evaluation requirement on employers' efforts to qualify their crane operators.
Workforce Development: The Charity seeks to promote the potential of the crane and rigging industries as career options to students and others. Examples include the development and distribution of resources, videos, and information explaining the various careers available in the crane and lifting industry including potential career pathways.
Grants & Scholarships: The Charity seeks to support financially those individuals and groups who might not otherwise have the opportunity to secure the training and certification necessary for employment in the industries it serves. This includes but is not limited to youth, retiring military and re-entering offenders.
The Charity seeks to educate the industries it serves through educational programming. Examples include organizing the Annual Industry Forum on Personnel Qualifications; soliciting content for the tri-annual CONEXPO construction equipment education program; developing and hosting regular free educational webinars on workforce, safety, and research topics; and creating and maintaining the online directories of Accredited Certification Organizations and the Most Similar Certifications Directory.
