Negro Educational Emergency Drive provides career and college access services which empower youth from the Pittsburgh region to aspire to, learn about, prepare for and complete higher education. Its various student service programs include the African American Male Mentoring Initiative, access to college & career ed. Its flagship program awards grants to eligible students to fill the gaps when all local,state, and federal college funding sources have been exhausted. Many of the students receiving last dollar grants are first generation, low income at-risk students.
