Program areas at Neighborhood House

Early childhood programs: ensuring that all young children, especially those from low-income families, are prepared for a successful transition to kindergarten by promoting healthy child development and early learning from birth through age 6. Programs include head start, early head start, and preschool promise. Early childhood highlights:- 60% of staff speak two, or more languages.-45% of families received emergency intervention, such as assistance with housing, food and clothing.- the program served 29,269 nutritious, from-scratch meals to our students.
Community health programs: Neighborhood House launched our new community health department in fy 22-23 to integrate our safety-net services, housing and free food market, with our senior programs. This collaboration promotes good health for all through improving access to nutritious food and stable housing, two key determinants. Additionally, our senior programs provide seniors and people with disabilities opportunities for healthy activity and social interactions, thereby preventing isolation and its associated health consequences. Community health highlights:- 71 houseless families found shelter and support through our housing program.- the food market distributed nearly 1,000,000 pounds of nutritious food to more than 16,000 program users. - 1,842 seniors had food delivered to their homes.- 1,362 seniors joined a group activity like games, crafts or writing.
School age highlights:our school age programs provided high-quality education and affordable before and after child care programs for working families at four schools. -147 students benefitted from our education and enrichment programs.
Business development/wealth creationtwo programs, child care improvement project (ccip) and Oregon child care alliance (occa), support creation and strengthening of child care businesses through culturally-specific training and technical assistance.business development highlights:-of 62 in-home childcare providers served, 100% received their state licenses within 12 months of enrolling.-occa served more than 70 child care providers with valuable bi-lingual business and curriculum tools to strengthen and expand their businesses in three different regions around the state.
