Program areas at Neighborhood Housing
Neighborhood Housing - our goal is to restore community pride within knoxville's neighborhoods by building modestly priced homes and offering assistance with the purchase price. In 2023, 3 homes and lots were sold in our inner city neighborhoods. Also, 68 families were enrolled in our home buyer readiness program that helps families work on improving their credit and basic life and financial skills so that they can pursue their dream of home ownership.
Workforce development - nhi serves as a construction skills development and employment partner for qualified youth selected by knoxville leadership foundation to participate in youth build. The goals of youth build are to provide program and project-based learning and occupational skills training to better prepare disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16 and 29 for career placement and achievement of academic credentials.
Operation backyard - this minor home repair program provides materials and recruits volunteers to provide minor home repairs for low-income, senior, and disabled persons who own their own homes. In 2023, operation backyard served 195 families with 1,360 volunteers.
