Program areas at Neighborhood Villages

Neighborhood Villages' largest program is its workforce program, which encompasses both its registered apprenticeships and its degree and scholarship support programs. In fy24, we graduated our first class of 68 apprentices, 34 in the cda track and 34 in the director track. Our director cohort was the first to graduate from a registered apprenticeship for this occupation in the entire country. At the same time, we welcomed a new cohort of 100 apprentices in february of 2024. In our second largest program (class: neighborhood-other), we continued to provide funding to five childcare centers to hire much-needed staff positions (family navigators and operations managers) and provide related supports to the centers and the families. We also held our second annual winter wonderfest, a wonderful event for families around the december holidays that provides free gifts, books, and household goods as well as entertainment. Our third largest program is teaching and learning, through which we have developed, in partnership with the lego foundation and boston public schools, a high-quality, open-source, play-based toddler curriculum. Our teaching and learning team also provides instructional coaching in classrooms in the childcare centers we fund through the Neighborhood.
