Sitka Center for Art and Ecology expands the relationship between art, nature, and humanity by providing workshops, presentations, individual research projects, and maintaining a facility within the coast environment of Cascade Head. It provides time and space for place-based reflection, inquiry, and creation at the intersection of art and ecology through workshops, residencies, and events. Sitka is situated in one of the most inspiring and protected parts of the Oregon Coast in Otis.

Program areas at Sitka Center for Art and Ecology

Sitka's programs are designed to be inclusive and intergenerational, serving individuals from preschoolers to professionals. They include:1. K-8 create: a youth program providing free Art and science education to over 5,000 students in rural, low-income communities where school-based arts programs are scarce.2. Workshops: offering creative disciplines for adults of all skill levels, including painting,drawing, nature observation, sculpture, book arts, fiber arts, woodworking, citizen science, and more.
3. Public talks, exhibits, and annual Art invitational: engaging the community through events and showcasing 100 pacific northwest artists each year.4. Residencies: supporting emerging and professional artists, scientists, writers, musicians, and interdisciplinary creators, with more than 75% of residencies awarded to bipoc, lgbtq+ and/or disability practitioners.
