Program areas at Nevada Council on Problem Gambling
Workforce development: provide continuing education for clinical, legal and other professionals serving Problem gamblers and their families, including presentations, agency briefings, online webinars and classroom trainings.
Helpline: provided 24-hour confidential access to information and assistance for individuals affected by Problem Gambling, providing immediate assistance to approximately 413 Nevada callers seeking help by phone and via internet. Services include online resources directory of available support group and treatment programs throughout Nevada and printed resource materials sent by mail upon request.
Prevention: participated in statewide prevention activities through collaborative partnerships and community events, with outreach and information sharing to more than 42 Nevada agencies and organizations serving special populations, the general public and engaged community organizations through the Gambling awareness prevention partnership, addressing the risk of Problem Gambling among veterans, seniors, and youth.
Literature distribution: provided literature to educate the public about Problem Gambling and resources for help; including over 128,000 brochures displayed in gaming locations and community agencies and distribution of more that 8,507 books and publications to individuals and organizations throughout the state. Public awareness: structured presentations given to employee groups and public audiences providing basic understanding of Problem Gambling and its impact on individuals, families, workplace and community; training of workplace and community educators to facilitate public awareness presentations in group settings, including special presentations on youth, families and seniors.
