Nevada PEP provided 9,405 family peer support service hours for families with children having emotional and behavioral challenges. Nevada PEP Family Specialists provided education, advocacy, information and referral services to assist 3,455 families in accessing services for their children. Family Specialist provided family peer support at 213 Child and Family Team/Wraparound meetings statewide. In addition, Nevada PEP held weekly family to family support group meetings in both English and Spanish. Support groups provided the opportunity for networking, sharing of resources, and emotional support by virtually connecting families across the state. To promote the system of care values and principles, Nevada PEP co-presented System of Care and CLAS Training workshops to 563 participants and sent out over 290,742 E-Communique Newsletters and special announcements. Youth MOVE Nevada produced 10 new podcasts and held weekly virtual meetings.
Promoted meaningful parental engagement and involvement in the education of their children and in school reform activities to improve services and results for children with disabilities ages 0-26. PEP provided 16 workshops on early intervention, early childhood transition and positive behavior approaches for young children. Nevada PEP provided individual support through over 1,526 contacts with parents of children 5 years old and under. PEP provided 66 transition related trainings to increase self-awareness and self-advocacy skills of youth with disabilities, improving the opportunity for successful high school completion and transition to adult life. Nevada PEP disseminated on average 22,660 monthly E-Post newsletters, containing up to date information on education, local resources, national issues and topics to meet the needs of Nevadas families. Nevada PEP participated in the development of the Pathways to Partnership project collaboration which will transform systems and services for transition aged youth.
Nevada PEP is recognized as the Parent Training Information Center for Nevada, offering a unique set of services to families who have children with all types of disabilities. Nevada PEP strengthens families with Education, Empowerment and Encouragement through training, support, and Individual Assistance. Nevada PEP is a family driven organization dedicated to educating parents and professionals throughout Nevadas 17 counties. Nevada PEP believes that the family is the fundamental unit in society, children with disabilities without regard for the severity of the disability have an inherent value that all life has a purpose, that communities benefit from providing appropriate interventions and that individuals with disabilities make a valuable contribution to society. In this fiscal year, Nevada PEP has provided training, free of charge to over 4,164 individuals, 97% of participants felt more confident to work with schools or service providers. Nevada PEP has provided the parental perspective on 68 committees throughout the state, with a goal of improving local and state programs for children and their families. Over 22,341 individuals received information and support services. In this fiscal year, 2,344 new families contacted Nevada PEP for intensive Individual Assistance. According to the annual PTI National survey 100% of respondents said they were prepared to use the information from Nevada PEP. 100% percent of youth surveyed said that they would recommend PEP to others.
