New Castle County Head Start, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization devoted to promoting the school readiness of children ages birth to 5 years from income-eligible families in New Castle County, Delaware. The agency provides excellence in early childhood education and supportive services to help families achieve self-sufficiency. Head Start embraces diversity and welcomes children and families of all backgrounds and abilities including those with special needs.the Head Start program provides center-based care for children between the ages of 3-5. Approximately 409 children were provided services during the year ended july 31, 2023.
Child and adult care food program (cacfp) provides nutritional services to children enrolled in the Head Start program.
The early Head Start program provides weekly child-focused home visits for pregnant women and children ages birth to 3 years. During the year ended july 31, 2023, approximately 101 pregnant women and children were served.
