New Directions Center operates an emergency shelter and a 24-hour hotline for victims of domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, and stalking in staunton, waynesboro, augusta county and highland county. The agency also provides court advocacy services, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, medical accompaniment, and other services to individuals and families affected by violence, as well as public outreach and education and training opportunities for volunteers, allied professionals, and other community partners. All agency services are free and confidential and the organizations work is supported by the department of criminal justice services, the department of social services, community funders, and the local hospital.
