The New England Commission of Higher Education accredits member (216) and candidate (6) institutions in the u.s. and internationally. This work is carried out by volunteers who serve as members of its decision-making body, the Commission (26), and on its evaluation teams (288). Dues are received from member and candidate institutions.
The Commission runs workshops to assist member and candidate institutions with report preparation, provides orientations for key institutional staff, and other workshops.
The Commission conducts periodic evalutions of member and candidate colleges and universities. These include comprehensive, focused, and substantive change reviews. In fy23, a total of 56 site visits were conducted.
