Program areas at New Hope Christian College
New Hope Christian College started the year with a modest thirteen incoming students, but they joined the rest of the student body for a year full of opportunity and excitement.there were many practical opportunities to serve as a result of local fires. Students helped disperse relief to displaced families and literally sifted through the ashes of burned homes to help families find personal items. Community outreach events also provided opportunities to serve. Students worked with the musician thunderstorm to produce a music video as well as an on-campus concert. They also worked with another band, christafarai, to put on a subsequent concert later in the year. Most significantly, however, president wayne cordeiro launched a lab church on campus, which had its official inaugural service april 4, 2021. Many students participated in a residency internship over the summer and led the church's first youth summer camp. New Hope students were released into essential and leadership roles at the church in the areas of youth and young adult ministry, worship, technology, facilities, ushers, greeters, parking, and more. Academically, in concert with the serving opportunities, the curriculum went through a major overhaul to incorporate credit for practical learning; students can now receive credit for up to one thousand hours of practicum experience. We ended the academic year with eight students completing either a bachelor's or associate's degree.
