Public education & information - serving as a champion and resource for and about the charitable nonprofit communitythe Center conducts and publishes research and provides educational information about the size, scope, impact, needs, and trends affecting the 501(c)(3) nonprofit community in New Jersey. Examples include: - covid-19 impact surveys - annual New Jersey nonprofit issues and trends surveys - rapid response surveys - nj nonprofit compensation and benefits surveys - nj nonprofit diversity surveys - serving as a resource to the news media about New Jersey nonprofit needs, issues and practices - educational presentations about nonprofit topics to diverse audiences - website articles and publications - convening and fostering connections among nonprofit organizations, their champions, and partners in government and for profits to enhance collaborations and collective strength
Technical assistance/capacity building - advancing knowledge and learning through management and compliance assistance, workshops, training, publications, and individualized assistance, the Center advances knowledge and promotes learning to foster effective, ethical organizations in furtherance of the public good. By providing direct services and serving as a gateway to other resources for Nonprofits, the Center helps organizations pursue their missions more efficiently and successfully. Ongoing programs and services include: - high-quality management and compliance information - our nonprofit helpdesk expert information and referral service (over 1,500 inquries answered per year) - timely news, insights and articles provided on our website with 12,500 unique visitors/month; our email list (5,100 subscribers + viral redistribution); and social media (a combined following of 25,000 across platforms) - workshops and webinars on fundraising, sustainability, management, governance, covid-19 relief, diversity, equity, and inclusion and other important topics - 20 or more presented per year, many also available on demand - sharing our insights through keynote addresses, workshops and presentations at events given by others to audiences totaling 4,500+ participants annually - a clearinghouse for job postings, events, referrals and other resources
Advocacy - advocacy can often make the difference between short-term responses to critical problems and long-term or preventative solutions. Through advocacy, the Center promotes sound public policies that will enable charities to pursue their missions for the people and communities they serve. The Center educates policy makers about the social and economic importance of Nonprofits to the state. The Center also educates Nonprofits about federal and state laws governing advocacy so that charitable Nonprofits will be better able to engage in public policy work safely and effectively.
