Program areas at New Life Village
Nlv provides an affordable housing program for 49 households. Approximately 95% of nlv residents are below 80% of the area medium income meaning they are low income. By providing affordable and attainable housing for our residents, caregivers are able to save for homeownership, repair credit, and invest in raising the trauma impacted youth in their care. Nlv rents are nearly 1,000/month under market rates for comparable rentals in the tampa area. Affordable 3 & 4 bedroom rentals are very rare in the tampa area and almost always have significant waiting lists. Often caregivers are in need of large bedroom units to care for siblings groups in foster care. In 2023, the Village opened 16 townhomes offering affordable 3 & 4-bedroom units for this exact reason.
Nlv's trauma informed wellness, resilience and character development program serves approx 170 residents, 113 being children and the rest caregivers or serving seniors. The program is designed for children formerly in foster care and/or affected by trauma. Their foster/adoptive/ kinship families now provide them with permanency. Also, elders seeking meaning and purpose in retirement serve as surrogate grandparents, tutors, and mentors to the children in the Village. Nlv's community-driven integrated onsite services improve health and wellbeing by providing wrap around services including family support plan-oriented case management, service navigation and referrals, community events to help children heal, caregivers to realize resources to promote (continued on schedule o)
