Program areas at NOAHH
Noahh's primary program is in the construction of New homes with the participation of low income (30-80% ami) future home buyers, volunteers and staff. Upon completion of each home. Noahh provides a 20-30 year interest-free mortgage, with those payments helping to fund construction of other homes. In partnership with the city of New Orleans and the New Orleans redevelopment authority, Habitat also builds and sells homes to low-to moderate income buyers (up to 120% ami) that are financed through local financial institutions. Noahh also runs an active home repair program that makes repairs to low income, elderly or disabled homeowners who lack the means to undertake needed repairs themselves. Noahh 's home repair services also aid those impacted by natural disasters and may include (cont'd on sch. O) younger individuals, but all are low income.15 homes were sold, and 14 homes were under construction at june 30, 2023.
The New Orleans area Habitat for Humanity restore has a location in New Orleans. Noahh sells gently used furniture, home goods, appliances, and building materials that have been donated from local individuals, as well as business and hotel renovations. This provides a reliable source of earned income for noahh, while serving as a source for affordable home goods to our surrounding community.
Recognizing the city's urgent need for healthy, affordable rentals, and that not all families can or want to become homeowners, noahh has more than 80 affordable rental units. The goal is to stabilize families while positioning them to make sound financial decisions, which will better enable them to pursue homeownership, should they desire to do so.
