The Young Men's Christian Association of New Rochelle, Inc. Provides a wide range of programs and services with members and participants from New Rochelle, pelham, mt. Vernon, larchmont, and surrounding communities. The nrymca serves over 4,000 members and non-member program participants supported through membership, program fees, government contracts, grants, foundation donations, as well as contributions from its members and the community. Nrymca is a member of a national yusa movement, comprised of ymca of the usa (y-usa), a national resource and the New york state alliance of ymcas. The nrymca accomplishes its mission through its various departmental programs and member services.afterschool programs - the New Rochelle ymca has two after school sites: the main branch at 50 weyman avenue and the daniel webster elementary school both in New Rochelle. Programs offer tutorial assistance, healthy snacks, physical activity, swimming, arts, dance, and social competency skills, all led by trained, caring, positive adult role models. Each day, our team includes the ymca catch program which stands for coordinated approach to child health. Catch is a preventative program proven to assist in preventing childhood obesity and is a fun activity for all of our children that changes each day. In addition, through a congressional grant, the y has offered small group social emotional training to assist children with stress and anxiety.financial aid is available for those who families in need.universal pre-kindergarten - during 2023, over 21 kids attended our half-day upk enrichment programs (morning and afternoon) for three and four year olds. The New Rochelle ymca universal pre-k program offers a child-centered approach to learning based on an understanding of the individual needs and diverse strengths of Young children. It follows the guidelines of the national Association for the education of Young children and aligns to the New york state p-12 learning standards. The y's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility is infused throughout the curriculum as we nurture the whole child. 99% of the children serviced were hispanic and spoke english as a second language. An extended day program can be added to our basic upk learning which allows for children to extend their learning until 3:00 pm.holiday/summer day camps - nrymca summer and holiday day camps are designed to offer children from pre-k to 8th grade a wide variety of activities that are sure to keep them entertained, learning, and moving. The summer camps have a weekly theme and a planned trip or special event each week that is coordinated around the theme. Together with art, dance, and steam projects, this day camp works to prevent summer learning loss. Intertwined into all of these activities are four key values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We incorporate these values in our spirit, mind and body programs, which will help in building confidence and maturity among our campers. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Healthy living: across the nation, yusa is a leading voice on health and well-being. With a mission centered on balance, the New Rochelle ymca brings families closer together, encourages good health and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, youth, adults and families are receiving the support, guidance and resources needed to achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, mind and body. In addition, the y works to offer a number of chronic health disease programs such as blood pressure self-monitoring, arthritis foundation certified walk with ease, and better balance. Aquatics department - there has been over 5,907 swim lessons taken by children & adults participated in private and group swim lessons or our sailfish swim team in 2023. We also provide american red cross water safety, cpr, and lifeguard courses throughout the year. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.youth sports - the y provides a series of sports/team programs for ages 3-18, including basketball, soccer, karate, and ballet. All programs focus on social competency skills, teamwork, and mutual respect, instilling the four core values of the ymca and developing a lifelong interest in activities and fitness. In 2023, more than 175 kids took part in our basketball clinics, soccer programs, karate lessons, ballet and our swim program. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Teen programs - the nrymca offers open gym time for teens, holistic teen warrior, outdoor adventure, as well as youth sports.active older adult programs - the y has a wide range of programs geared to adults, including adult basketball, pickleball, aqua-zumba, aquacise, silver splash, chair yogalates, better balance, sculp and stretch, zumba, tai chi, turbo kick, water running, body pump, and yoga.social responsibility: yusa has been listening and responding to our communities' most critical social needs for 160 years. Whether developing skills or emotional well-being through education and training, welcoming and connecting diverse demographic populations through global services, or preventing chronic disease and building healthier communities through collaborations with policymakers, yusa and its member organizations foster the care and respect that all people need.through the ymca movement, members, volunteers, donors, community leaders and partners across the country are empowering millions of people in the u.s. and around the world to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure. The New Rochelle ymca hosted a successful healthy kids day in 2023 that brought many community partners from throughout westchester together to help families live health lives by providing information to our families. This was a free community event. The New Rochelle ymca also works closely with feeding westchester to provide a monthly mobile food distribution, which served over 2,709 people, which includes 1219 adults and 1059 children in 2023.community collaborations: in 2023, the nrymc worked with the boys troop one of pelham, campership fund, New Rochelle council of community services, New Rochelle rotary club, pelham rotary club, jack and jill foundation, feeding westchester, lower hudson valley volleyball Association, New Rochelle library, stress less kids, accent dance, hope community services, montefiore New Rochelle hospital, New Rochelle police department, non profit westchester and westchester women's agenda.
