Integrated Schools Project: Integrated Schools Project: New York Appleseed advocates for integrated schools and communities in New York City and New York State. Specific activities include:- Campaign to sustain the elimination of competitive admissions to public middle schools.- Campaign to sustain fair and transparent high school admissions policies.- Advocacy for 21st-century student assignment strategies that support equitable, inclusive, and integrated schools.- Support for community school districts and school communities seeking strategies to foster and preserve diversity in their schools.- Sponsoring educational events on school diversity, school segregation, and integration.
PTAlink: PTAlink is a technical assistance website and platform thats mission is to improve the quality of education for all children in New York City public schools by empowering parent organizations to be accessible, knowledgeable and effective. Through this project, NY Appleseed facilitates the growth and success of NYC parent organizations by providing parent leaders with information, tools and support, as well as an opportunity to share experiences, best practices and advocacy efforts with the larger NYC parent community.
GENERAL PROGRAM: Includes all programmatic activities not under the auspices of the other integrated schools project, including advocacy for integrated communities. These included projects relating to educational equity such as participating in roundtables and coalitions of housing and integration advocates, advocacy and research furthering transportation equity in the larger NY metropolitan region, and continued advocacy for comprehensive land-use planning in New York City through a coalition.
