Established in 1975 and based in Albany, NYSID is a not-for-profit membership organization with a 40-year mission of creating jobs for New Yorkers with disabilities. NYSID and its member agencies are a proven procurement solution for government agency customers. NYSID members are the employment resource centers for individuals with diverse abilities. Our member agencies also partner with private sector New York State businesses, including Minority and Woman-Owned Business and veterans' support programs.

Program areas at NYSID

Nysid's purpose and, therefore, program opportunity is to provide employment and other opportunities for New yorkers with disabilities. During this reporting period, the number of individuals with disabilities working on nysid preferred source contracts totaled 4,794 (earnings and wages in excess of $79.8 million). Preferred source employment provides social and economic advantages to people and fiscal support to New York State. By employing people rather than subsidizing them, nysid jobs make connections to better lives for the thousands of individuals working at member agency production facilities, social enterprises, private corporate partners, and community placements.
