Program areas at Newark Bike Project
NBP purchased bike parts to be used when refurbishing donated bikes to be sold at about half of what a new bike costs, refurbishing donated bikes that will be given away as part of our "Free Bike Program and our "Youth Empowerment Program". There were 1,305 bikes donated to NBP. There were 45 bikes given away with the "Free Bike Program and 65 bikes given away with the "Youth Empowerment Program." A refurbish bike is given with a helmet, lock & lights average value $175.
Other Program Expenses from Part IX
NBP conducts "Open Shop Time"when customers bring in a bike for repair There were 1,100 Open Shot hours. The customer pays $10 per hour plus the cost of any new or used parts needed to make the repair so that it is "road ready". We get our used parts from donated bikes that are not worth trying to repair.
