Program areas at Newroot Learning Institute

Newroot's social emotional Learning programming provides curricula, interventions, and training that enable schools to create and sustain nurturing environments that lead to improved social well-being outcomes, academic outcomes, and reduced suspensions and disciplinary infractions. Newroot engages sel partners in strategic planning and system-building with the school community; facilitates professional Development for teachers, counselors, staff, and administrators; and provides customized coaching and modeling in the implementation of Newroot's 500+ research-based lessons that are aligned with the Illinois social and emotional Learning standards, national asca standards, and the common core. By developing self and social-awareness skills, self-management, and interpersonal skills, both adults and students are able to establish and maintain relationships and healthier behaviors that support self-sustaining positive school cultures.
Newroot's restorative justice model creates the conditions for both students and adults to successfully reach their academic goals by reducing violence, restoring conflicts and reducing suspensions and disciplinary infractions. Through rj programming, students learn critical social, emotional, and behavioral skills and teachers are better positioned to deliver high quality instruction. Newroot utilizes a whole school restorative justice model which includes: 1) a peace room which serves as a hub for restorative practices and interventions including: peace circles, mediations, restorative chats and re-entry circles; 2) discipline and behavior systems and data support; 3) professional Development for teachers and staff; and 4) a disciplinary intervention and support curriculum which teaches critical social-emotional and leadership.
Newroot provides professional Development training sessions forparticipants throughout chicagoland and beyond. As a premier socialemotional Learning and restorative justice provider in chicago and oneof the only organizations with a significant breadth and depth ofknowledge and experience in these areas, from Student programming to adult training to data analysis to system design, the demand fornewroot's curricula and training is growing. Our highly skilled staff provide customized training, curricula, and coaching for educators, schools, and districts to effectively implement Newroot's social emotional Learning and restorative justice programming within their schools.
