Program areas at Next River

America is steeped in an idea of freedom that celebrates toxic individualism, independence, and the absence of responsibility for others. Our connectivity becomes hidden behind capitalist structures that separate us from our humanity and each other. Next River recognizes that true freedom can only be fulfilled in a connected, caring, and accountable community. Freedom?s Revival will map a long-term plan that will show us how to get there through research, collaborations with culture change experts, movement building, and meaning-making. In 2023, Next River completed a major research project and released a field guide called "Freedom's Revival: Research From the Headwaters of Liberation". We interviewed more than 40 people for our research, which also included more than 100 desktop and scholarly sources. We held several experiential events to share and promote the research. Over 150 people attended these events. The 50 copies of the field guide that we printed have been distributed, and the PDF has been downloaded dozens of times.
