Program areas at Noguchi Museum
Merchandisingthe Museum sells functional examples of lighting and furniture designed by Isamu Noguchi, as well as other merchandise that is directly related to The exhibitions and interpretive materials in The galleries to allow Museum visitors to extend their aesthetic and educational experience over time.
Collectionthe Noguchi Museum manages The world's largest and most extensive collection of Noguchi's art and is dedicated to The preservation of this body of work. There are approximately 500 objects in The Museum's permanent collection which include stone, sculptures, ceramics, dance sets, drawings, furniture, sculptural models, portrait heads, and models for public works. While designing and curating his Museum, Noguchi selected several of these works to be on permanent display in The Museum's galleries. In addition to showcasing its permanent collection, The Noguchi Museum also served The international community by loaning works to other institutions. In 2023, a retrospective spanning six decades and including over 150 works toured in europe, as well as an exhibition at The takenaka carpentry tools Museum, kobe, japan.
Exhibitionsin addition to The permanent collection installed galleries and Garden at The Noguchi Museum, each year changing exhibitions are presented that offer new perspectives on Noguchi's artistic production. In 2023, changing exhibitions included: The collections-based show "Noguchi subscapes," plus "in praise of caves: organic architecture projects from mexico by carlos lazo, mathias goeritz, juan o'gorman, and javier senosian," "a glorious bewilderment: marie menken's 'visual variations on Noguchi'," as well as a staff exhibition.
